Threats to New Hampshire’s Birds

Birds face a diverse and changing list of threats over the course of their lives, here grouped into six broad categories. Any of these threats can operate at any time of year, although some are certainly more seasonal than others. And for migratory species, threats have impacts across the entire migratory route, from breeding habitat, along the paths taken north and south in spring and fall, and on distant wintering grounds when birds are often very far away from where they nest.
